Braided Apple Puff Pastry

INGREDIENTS
1 box of pepperidge farm puff pastry sheets
3 1/2 tbsp vegan cream cheese/vegan butter
1 1/2 tbsP brown sugar
1/2 Tsp vanilla extract
1 can apple pie filling
2 tbsp sliced almonds
2-3 tbsp powdered sugar
1 tbsp almond milk
INSTRUCTIONS
Place vegan butter, brown sugar, and vanilla extract in a small bowl and stir well. This will serve as the filling for the pastry. You can also use vegan cream cheese if you prefer.
Evenly coat filling mixture in the middle of the Puff Pastry sheet. Next, place apple pie filling in the middle of the sheet. You can also use fresh fruit if you like. Carefully cut sides of the Puff Pastry sheet to form diagonal pieces. Cut evenly on both sides. Fold one diagonal piece over the other to create the braided look.
Lightly brush melted vegan butter on the pastry and place sliced almonds on top. Bake in oven at 400° F for 20-30 min. Mix powdered sugar and almond milk for delicious icing. Your pastry is ready!
