Vegan General Tso

INGREDIENTS

Cauliflower

1 head of cauliflower

1 cup of flour

1 cup of plant-based milk

3 tbsp cornstarch

1/2 tbsp salt

1 tbsp black pepper

1 tbsp garlic powder

1 tbsp onion powder

1-2 tbsp soy sauce

Sauce

2 cloves garlic and/or ginger

1 tbsp sesame oil

2 tbsp Brown Sugar AND/OR maple syrup

3 tbsp soy sauce

1 tsp chili flakes

2 tbsp cornstarch

1 tbsp of white wine vinegar


instructions

  1. Cut cauliflower into medium pieces. Add flour, cornstarch, plant-based milk, soy sauce, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder to a bowl. Coat the cauliflower with the mixture. Bake cauliflower in oven at 430° F for about 25-35 min. In the meantime, boil water and cook rice.

  2. Add sesame oil to pan and place on medium heat. Add garlic cloves, ginger, soy sauce, brown sugar, maple syrup chili flakes, and white wine vinegar. In a separate bowl, add cornstarch and water to create a paste to thicken the sauce. Add cornstarch mix to the pan and stir well.

  3. Once the cauliflower is done baking, add it to the pan. Mix well with the sauce. Add rice to a bowl and top with cauliflower. I also added spring onions and sesame seeds for decoration. Dinner is done!
